Took a while this one, due to the unexpected difficulty of aligning Lex's features correctly and various other distractions. What to do next, I'm not sure?
... you can find some of my Illustration work. At Portland Place, opposite the Chinese Embassy is a 24/7 Peaceful protest against the persecution of Falun Gong in China, under the Communist government. The protest has been there for about 7 years now, my art work has been used for the last year or so, I feel quite good about it :)
T'was fairly quiet in the Bookshop today, so quiet in fact that I managed to sketch this fine line portrait of the lovely Nina Simone. Drawn from a photo on an album cover. My colleague and I sat there sketching like a pair of contented school children, quietly scribbling away, oblivious to the world around us, and our customers.
This piece didn't quite turn out as planned. However, I'm pleased with how it holds up under close scrutiny. The reason its so dark is due to the hazy, pixelated photo I chose to paint from, not a sensible idea I've learnt.
Just playing around with photoshop effects, I liked the look of this variation, it shows Owens bone structure better and looks a bit 'Sandman, King of Dreams-esque'.
